Salvia 'Sebastian'

Little is known about this gorgeous Salvia except that it is on sale at a few nurseries in Argentina. It was supplied to them just as "Salvia". It does not resemble any Argentinean species, it is probably from Bolivia or Peru, and it may be a hybrid. The deep pink/red flowers have mauve stamens. Dried specimens were taken to the Kew herbarium, and could not be identified. Here it is 4 ft x 4ft and has flowered all summer. Hardiness to be tested. I have a vague feeling that it could be related to S. haenkei. Photo by Rolando Uria.
