Salvia 'Cristina Bugatti'

This is a hybrid of S. univerticillata and S. karwinskii, which has occurred in California and Argentina, from chance seedlings. It is far more floriferous than its parents. It is also a magnet for hummingbirds. In my greenhouse in the UK, it has been the star-performer throughout March and April, 2013, and has only grown to 3 ft. Named after the beloved Argentinean botanist, Cristina Bugatti, who recently passed away. Photo by Rolando Uria. Without doubt one of the best introductions in the last 2 years.
