Salvia 'Amena'

This outstanding hybrid of S. cacaliifolia x S. sagittata was shown on my site 2 years ago for just 5 days! I removed it as wholesalers showed extreme interest in this beauty and it was trialled for 2 years, with the intention of having it protected by PBR. Sadly this did not happen, as the plant is sprawling and untidy, sticky, and not hardy. (Breeders must try harder with this!) Sterile and easily propagated from cuttings, Salvia 'Amena' is nevertherless a stunning plant, flowering for 6 months. It does need support and 3 plants in a tub look superb. Might be for sale in the UK this year. It was discovered as a chance seedling in Rolando Uria's garden in Argentina.
