Salvia stolonifera

This wonderful Salvia was discovered 2 years ago in the Oaxaca region in southern Mexico. It grows to 2 ft x 2 ft and can sprawl. Very beautiful, with long deep orange flowers. Endemic to cloud forest areas, it is happier in the UK in a partly shaded position, where it will flower for several months. It sets plenty of seeds, is easy to propagate from cuttings. For the last 2 winters in England, Salvia stolonifera has been totally hardy.......this has surprised me! BUT....it seems that it could become invasive! The name 'Stolonifera' is understandable!
